BIOGRAPHY

Christopher Ward has had a wide-ranging career in the private, public and voluntary sectors, in the UK and overseas.

He has particular experience of setting up and running government-funded companies that operate in the private sector.

From 2002 to 2009 he was the Chief Executive of the Wales Management Council in Cardiff, a government-funded, employer-led body promoting the importance of good leadership and management.

In the 90s he set up a company to administer European Structural Fund programmes in Wales, and prior to that a company providing counselling and support to small and start-up companies in London, in each case taking over work that had been previously handled by government departments.

Prior to this Christopher Ward worked in the book publishing industry for 20 years.  He held senior management positions in product development, production, sales, and marketing in the UK and overseas, including eight years working in Nigeria.  He has worked with the Royal National Institute for the Blind in the UK with responsibility for publishing in Braille and other media, and was the Managing Director of Darton, Longman and Todd, a publisher of religious books.

He was educated at Kingswood School, Bath and Exeter College, Oxford.
